From 14th to the Kimball Park & Ride (excluding City ROW and Park), Gig Harbor

:  As of February 1, 2011 a portion of the Cushman Trail Phase I is now managed/operated by PenMet Parks.

Cushman Trail Phase I
Phase 1 of the Cushman Trail is approximately 2.5 miles of non-motorized public trail next to Highway 16 from the Kimball Drive Park & Ride Lot in Gig Harbor to 14th Avenue NW.  The trail occupies the land adjacent to or under the Cushman power line which is generally used by Tacoma Public Utilities (TPU) maintenance vehicles.

The Trail is a 16-foot wide paved asphalt pedestrian route exclusively for non-motorized uses.  With rolling hills, smooth pavement and easy accessibility, this trail is great for kids of all ages.  The trailhead with no restroom facility has parking for 122 cars and is located at 14th Avenue NW.

The Gig Harbor Rotary Club assisted Pierce County and the City of Gig Harbor in providing trail amenities such as bike racks, benches and picnic tables.

Cushman Trail Phase II
The new trail extension is approximately 2.5 miles of 16-foot wide pervious asphalt with 4-foot wide gravel shoulders.

A section of the trail between Foster Street and the Wilkinson Farm Park is constructed on a pin-pile bridge to minimize impacts to the wetland.

This phase connects to the existing Cushman Trail at the Pierce Transit Park & Ride on Kimball Drive and ends at 96th Street NW (off Burnham Drive).  A trailhead with restrooms and parking is located at the end of Grandview Street.  A new lighted crosswalk has been installed across Rosedale Street.

Phase II of the Cushman Trail is a project in partnershp with Pierce County Parks & Recreation, Tacoma Power and the City of Gig Harbor.
